The university

Vilnius University is over 400 years old , making it one of the oldest universities in Northern Europe. Nearly 24,000 students (as of 2022) – including around 2,500 international students – study here. International lecturers teach small groups of sometimes eight to ten students, ensuring individual support and guidance.

Communication takes place in English. Furthermore, as a medical student, you will be introduced to patients early on – thus gaining valuable practical experience. Over the centuries, the university has expanded with numerous new buildings, and with its library, twelve faculties, seven institutes, and four research centers, it forms a blend of diverse architectural styles in the heart of Vilnius’ Old Town . The Faculty of Medicine, with seven departments, two institutes, and eleven clinics, is one of the largest faculties at Vilnius University. Over 4,000 students are enrolled here, and nearly 100 doctoral candidates are registered. The faculty collaborates with international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNESCO.

Furthermore, the first week of the semester includes an orientation week for  international students . Afterwards, the semester traditionally begins with a festive parade.

Requirements and application
